Lord Stilton Sharp – Character Profile

Appearance

Lord Stilton Sharp image

Lord Stilton Sharp is an elderly wedge of pale creamy-golden Stilton, heavily marked with distinctive blue-green veining.

His silver-grey eyebrows are thick and expressive, while a carefully curled silver moustache and pointed beard give him an unmistakably aristocratic appearance. His blue eyes often carry a stern, assessing expression.

He dresses in dark, elegant clothing suited to the imposing surroundings of the Stilton Spires. A richly detailed dark waistcoat and trousers sit beneath a long navy-black cloak with silver decoration and a dramatic high collar.

Most distinctive of all is his silver walking stick, shaped like a bolt of lightning. Its rhythmic tap against the stone floors and mountain paths often announces Lord Stilton before he has said a word.

Personality

Lord Stilton Sharp is proud, stern, decisive and deeply rooted in the traditions and grievances of the Stilton Spires.

He is not easily impressed. When news reaches the Spires that the Cheese Family have won the Nationals, his dismissive response makes his opinion of their celebrations perfectly clear.

For years, Lord Stilton helped raise Velora and Crumbella to believe that they should surpass the other branch of the family rather than seek its approval. Competition, achievement and strength became important parts of life at the Stilton Spires.

He also has little patience for indecision. When the Origin Map reveals a new path, Lord Stilton immediately wants to follow it and finish what was started.

Yet Lord Stilton is not simply a villain.

As the truth about the family divide begins to emerge, he travels alongside both sides of the family and witnesses old assumptions being challenged. He does not suddenly become cheerful or abandon everything he believes, but neither does he prevent the beginnings of reconciliation.

There may yet be more to Lord Stilton Sharp than anyone knows.

Velvet Blue and the Stilton Sisters

Lord Stilton shares his life at the Stilton Spires with Velvet Blue, who lived for many years under the name Lady Roquefortia.

The precise nature of their relationship has never been explained, and perhaps that is a story for another day.

What is known is that Lord Stilton helped Velvet raise Velora and Crumbella. He speaks of having raised the sisters to surpass the other branch of the Cheese Family, showing how closely involved he has been in their lives.

Lord Stilton’s influence helped shape the competitive world in which the Stilton Sisters grew up. But as Velora and Crumbella begin questioning the history they inherited, Lord Stilton too is faced with a changing family.

Life at the Stilton Spires

Lord Stilton’s home suits him remarkably well.

The Stilton Spires rise in a cold, mountainous landscape far across the valley from Crumbly Bottom. Jagged peaks surround a tall, dark stone house perched high among the cliffs.

Inside are long, echoing corridors lined with shelves of trophies. Their polished surfaces catch what little light reaches the house, reminders of victories achieved and rivalries maintained.

It is here that Lord Stilton’s silver cane can often be heard clicking steadily against the stone floors.

The family divide

When Velora and Crumbella return to the Stilton Spires after encountering the Cheese Family, Lord Stilton and Lady Roquefortia finally begin revealing the history behind the rivalry.

Lord Stilton remains fiercely committed to the version of events that has shaped their family. But Crumbella begins asking an important question: what if the other family did not drive Velvet away?

Then the Origin Map changes.

Lord Stilton does not hesitate. If the map is leading somewhere, he intends to follow it.

What follows brings Lord Stilton into the same journey as Sir Blue Vein, Velvet Blue and the generations who inherited their disagreement.

By the journey home, Lord Stilton is still Lord Stilton. He moves stiffly along the path with his silver cane tapping against the stones, and he does not suddenly become warm and sentimental. But he remains with the reunited group while the first difficult conversations about their shared future begin.

His own part in what happens next remains to be written.

Lord Stilton is an elderly wedge of pale creamy-golden Stilton with extensive dark blue-green veining. He has large blue eyes beneath enormous bushy silver-grey eyebrows, together with a curled silver moustache and pointed beard. His sideways expression is stern and assessing rather than openly unfriendly.

He wears an elegant dark waistcoat and trousers beneath a long navy-black cloak decorated with silver details and a dramatic high collar. Dark gloves and polished black shoes complete his imposing appearance.

One gloved hand rests firmly on his distinctive silver walking stick, whose upper section zigzags dramatically in the shape of a lightning bolt.

Lord Stilton stands in a vast ancient stone corridor with high Gothic arches and a dark flagstone floor. Shelves and tables around him display numerous old trophies, cups and ornamental objects. Tall narrow windows reveal the cold blue-grey mountains of the Stilton Spires outside.

Cold daylight enters through the windows while old lanterns cast pockets of warm golden light along the stone walls, giving Lord Stilton’s home a grand, chilly and formidable atmosphere.
