Crumbella is the younger of the two Stilton Sisters, a talented and fiercely competitive dancer with a mischievous streak, a sly grin and a growing habit of asking questions that other cheeses might prefer to leave unanswered.
Raised at the Stilton Spires by her mother, Velvet Blue, with Lord Stilton Sharp closely involved in her upbringing, Crumbella grew up believing that Sir Blue Vein’s side of the family had rejected her mother. Together with her older sister Velora, she learned to see the Cheese Family’s Disco Twins as rivals to be surpassed.
But when old family history begins to unravel, Crumbella becomes one of the first to wonder whether the story she has always been told is really the whole truth.

Appearance
Crumbella is a pale creamy wedge of Stilton with distinctive blue-green veining. She is slightly shorter and softer in shape than her older sister Velora, while still sharing an obvious family resemblance.
Her performance look is extravagant and unmistakably Stilton Sister. Her deep teal-blue hair falls in long, flowing curls, decorated with sparkling silver details.
She wears an electric-blue and silver sequined dance costume with a fitted bodice and a short, flared layered skirt. Flowing blue and silver fabric sweeps behind her as she dances, giving her appearance more movement and playfulness than Velora’s sharper, more structured stage style.
Crumbella’s broad, cheeky smile is one of her most recognisable features.
Personality
Crumbella is confident, competitive, mischievous and outspoken.
In the earlier days of the Stilton Sisters’ rivalry with the Disco Twins, she embraces the competition enthusiastically. She has a cheekier side than Velora and is quite capable of enjoying a little theatrical trouble when she thinks it might give the sisters an advantage.
But Crumbella is also thoughtful.
As the family’s history begins to come apart, she is more willing than most to say aloud what others are only beginning to consider.
When Lady Roquefortia explains the story Crumbella and Velora have grown up believing, Crumbella asks a simple but enormously important question: what if the other family did not drive their mother away?
That willingness to question what she has been taught becomes one of Crumbella’s greatest strengths.
She does not abandon her loyalty to her mother. Instead, she begins to understand that loving someone does not mean refusing to ask whether their version of the past might be incomplete.
The Stilton Sisters
Crumbella and her older sister Velora are known together as the Stilton Sisters.
They are accomplished competitive dancers whose routines are sharp, precise and perfectly synchronised. High kicks, rapid spins, flips and dramatic formations are all part of their performances.
Their stage image is gloriously theatrical, filled with electric blue, silver, sequins and glitter.
For years their greatest rivals are Monterey Jack Flash and Halloumi Belle, the Cheese Family’s Disco Twins.
The rivalry is about more than dancing. Crumbella and Velora have been raised to believe that the other branch of the Cheese Family rejected their mother, and their desire to defeat the Disco Twins becomes tangled up with generations of family resentment.
Although Crumbella and Velora perform as a pair, their personalities are different.
Velora is more controlled and tends to carry her thoughts quietly. Crumbella is more likely to voice a doubt, ask an awkward question or let her feelings show.
Together they make a formidable partnership.
Questioning the past
Crumbella plays an important part in The Stilton Divide because she begins asking questions before anyone has all the answers.
As the Origin Map changes and the sisters leave the Stilton Spires to follow its new route, Crumbella watches the horizon and wonders where it is taking them.
She begins considering questions she has not yet found the courage to ask aloud.
Eventually, when the Stilton Sisters face Sir Blue Vein and his family, Crumbella explains what she and Velora were taught: that Sir Blue abandoned, mocked and rejected their mother.
For perhaps the first time, both sides are able to hear clearly what the other has believed for all those years.
The answers are not simple.
But Crumbella’s willingness to question inherited certainty helps create the possibility of something the family has not had for a very long time: a genuine conversation.
Family and relationships
Velvet Blue is Crumbella’s mother. For many years Crumbella knew her as Lady Roquefortia and grew up fiercely protective of the hurt her mother carried from the past.
Velora is Crumbella’s older sister, dance partner and closest companion. They have performed, competed and travelled together for years, even though they do not always react to events in exactly the same way.
Lord Stilton Sharp helped Velvet raise Crumbella and Velora at the Stilton Spires. His belief in strength, achievement and surpassing the other branch of the family helped shape their fiercely competitive upbringing.
Sir Blue Vein is Crumbella’s uncle. For much of her life, however, he was known to her primarily through the painful family history she had inherited.
As that history is reconsidered, Crumbella begins discovering the relatives who had previously existed only as rivals in an old family story.
A different side of Crumbella
When the glitter, costumes and competition are stripped away, Crumbella reveals a gentler and more curious side.
As the divided family begins spending time together, she crouches beside Mini Mozzarella and joins him as he draws lines in the dirt.
It is a small moment, but an important one.
The younger Stilton Sister who once approached the Cheese Family as a rival is beginning to discover what it might mean simply to be part of the same family.

Crumbella appears with Velora as one of the Stilton Sisters in Chutney and Champions, where their rivalry with Monterey Jack Flash and Halloumi Belle becomes part of the competition surrounding the Nationals.
The sisters return in The Crumbly Carnival with their extravagant electric-blue and silver performance style, spectacular synchronised routines and unmistakable flair for making an entrance.
In The Stilton Divide, Crumbella and Velora become much more than rival dancers. Their family history moves to the centre of the story, and Crumbella becomes one of the first characters willing to question whether the rivalry they inherited was built on the whole truth.
Fun fact
Crumbella may love sequins, dramatic dance routines and a bit of mischief, but one of her most important talents has nothing to do with dancing.
