Image Description.
A two-panel, storybook-style illustration shows Eddie Emmental at two stages of his life. The artwork is warm and golden, with soft shading and parchment-like textures, matching the illustrated style used for Sir Blue Vein and Lady Brie.
Left Panel – Young Eddie: A rounded wedge of golden Emmental cheese with scattered holes stands in a simple workshop. He wears a plain shirt with sleeves rolled up and a work apron that looks a little too big for him. One hand shades his eyes as if peering toward a stage he’s not yet ready to step onto, while the other holds a coiled rope. His expression is uncertain but curious, suggesting a young man searching for his place. Behind him, a cluttered workbench glows with lantern light and smoke drifts gently from a bubbling contraption, hinting at his early experiments with stagecraft.
Right Panel – Eddie the Backstage Magician (Present Day): The same wedge of Emmental now appears older, more confident, and warmly content. His posture is steady, and he smiles kindly while adjusting a glowing lantern that casts golden light across his face. He wears a neatly fitted work apron over his rolled-up shirt, with a wrench tucked into the front pocket, symbolising his tinkering nature. The background shows shelves lined with bottles, props, and tools in a homely workshop setting. Eddie’s edges glow faintly, like gently melted cheese, symbolising his warmth and inventiveness.
The two panels flow together seamlessly, bathed in the same golden glow, symbolising Eddie’s journey from uncertain youth to the dependable “backstage magician” of the Cheese Family.
Character Bio – Daddy (Eddie) Emmental
Pronouns – He/Him
Appearance – As Young Eddie (early years), he is a rounded wedge of golden-yellow Emmental, smooth and glowing with a warm hue. The classic Emmental holes mark his surface like little windows into his imagination. He dresses simply in shirtsleeves, sometimes with a work apron smudged with chalk or grease from tinkering with stage equipment. His eyes hold a spark of curiosity, but his stance is less confident than his parents — he’s looking for a place to belong.
As Eddie the Backstage Magician (present day), his posture is steady and grounded. He wears rolled-up shirts, braces, or his favourite apron, always with some tool or gadget tucked into a pocket. His edges seem faintly melted at times, giving him a homely, approachable glow. His expression is thoughtful, often with a kind smile or a faraway look as though imagining his next invention.
Personality – Eddie once tried his hand at dancing, but soon realised his true talent was in special effects and backstage wizardry. He is practical, inventive, and quietly creative — a man who dreams in lights, smoke, and illusions rather than steps and spins. Nostalgic at times for paths not taken, he is nevertheless proud of the world he builds for others to shine in. Above all, he is a devoted husband to Clarabelle (Mummy Cheddar) and a steadying presence for the Cheese Family.
Role across the Volumes – In Trails and Twirls (Volume Four), Eddie’s youthful attempts at dancing are briefly hinted at, though he steps back to support rather than perform.
In Volume One and onward, Eddie is Daddy Emmental, family man and dependable support, often seen tinkering with contraptions or helping the children with projects.
Future volumes may explore Eddie’s backstory alongside Clarabelle — how they met, and how his backstage magic became part of the family’s rhythm.
Fun Fact – Eddie once built a smoke machine out of an old fondue pot and a bellows. It worked… mostly.
