The Cheese Family Chronicles – Character Bio: Velvet Blue

Image Description:
An illustrated portrait of Velvet Blue, depicted as an elderly wedge of blue-veined cheese. Her rind is speckled with patches of blue mould, giving her a weathered, wise appearance. She has simple arms and legs, with small orange hands and feet. Draped over her shoulders is a flowing pale blue velvet cloak fastened with a round clasp at her neck, the hood pulled up around her face. She leans gently on a wooden staff, her expression calm but tinged with sadness. The background is a warm, parchment-like wash, giving the image a timeless, storybook quality.

The Cheese Family Chronicles – Character Bio: Velvet Blue

Pronouns: She/her.

Velvet Blue is a wedge wrapped in pale blue velvet, carrying both wisdom and sorrow in equal measure. Long ago, she stepped away from the familiar paths of Cheddar-on-the-Crumb and built a life elsewhere, leaving behind questions, rumours, and the crack in the family wheel that still echoes through generations.

Gentle in voice but strong in spirit, Velvet carries the marks of time on her rind — flecks of silver and deep blue veins that speak of experience, hardship, and resilience. She is a keeper of secrets, a bridge between the Cheese Family and the Stiltons, and perhaps the only one who truly understands how the divide began.

Though she moves slowly with her staff, Velvet Blue commands quiet respect. Her presence is less about grand gestures and more about the gravity of someone who has lived, loved, and lost. For Mini Mozzarella and Babybel, she is an instant source of wonder — a grandmother figure who sees them not as rivals in a feud, but as children of hope.

Velvet Blue’s return to Ricotta Reach is not the end of her story, but the start of a new turning of the wheel — one that may yet bring healing to a family split apart.
