Image Description: A cheerful illustrated poster for the Fruit Salad Olympics. Set against a bright blue sky with fluffy clouds, the image shows four anthropomorphic fruits — a smiling strawberry, a happy pineapple, a cheerful blueberry, and a lively banana — all leaping joyfully with their arms raised. Above them, large cream-colored text clearly reads “FRUIT SALAD OLYMPICS” in bold block letters. Below the title are the five Olympic-style rings in blue, black, red, yellow, and green. The entire scene is flat and cartoonish in style, using clean lines, vivid colours, and a playful tone.
Day Eight: Medleys, Mayhem and Midway Madness
As the sun rose over the Grand Fruit Bowl Stadium, something unexpected rolled in with the morning mist — a new team. Unofficial, unseeded, and uninvited… but determined to make their presence known.
Introducing Team Medley — a plucky collection of overlooked fruits including Olive, Dragonfruit, Pomegranate Pip, and Gooseberry Gus. Their motto?
“Just because we’re not in your salad doesn’t mean we’re not fruit.”
The crowd roared. The officials frowned. The games, however, must go on.
Wildcard Event: The Juicer Gauntlet This brand-new event, introduced without warning, involved a high-speed dash through a chaotic obstacle course of blender blades (foam-tipped), pouring smoothie fountains, and a tunnel of lemon zest fog.
Competitors were chosen at random, and all teams were eligible. Running order was determined by juice box draw.
Finalists:
* Pineapple Pete (Team Tropical)
* Olive (Team Medley)
* Clementine Chloe (Citrus Surge)
* Blackberry Ben (Berry Blast)
Highlights included:
* Olive slip-sliding under foam blades like a pitless ninja.
* Pete getting stuck in a mango chute but escaping with flair.
* Chloe vaulting the lemon fog like a fruity gymnast.
* Ben calmly jogging the whole thing like he was out for a berry stroll.
Gold: Clementine Chloe Silver: Olive Bronze: Blackberry Ben
Pineapple Pete received the “Stickiest Spirit” ribbon for emerging from the juicer covered in passionfruit pulp but still grinning.
Team Medley Appeal Accepted: After lengthy discussions (and one very moving performance of “We Are All Fruit” by Dragonfruit on panpipes), the committee has officially welcomed Team Medley into the games. They’ll now be competing in the remaining events with full status.
Coach Kiwi said simply: “About time.”
Backstage Bubbles:
* Figaro the Fig reportedly offered to write Team Medley their anthem.
* Granny Smith was seen polishing a new medal with a cryptic inscription: “For the Fruit Yet Seen.”
* A mysterious jam smear shaped like a raspberry appeared on the locker room ceiling. Coincidence? The Coconut Courier says no.
